Lucques, LA

8474 Melrose Ave, LA
T. (323) 656 6277

This is one of the “it” restaurants in LA now. Known for its Mediterranean and French influenced dishes, the chefs constantly update the menu using only the freshest ingredients of the season.

We had the prix-fixe three course set dinner one Sunday evening (it’s the only night of the week that has this). But even before the appetizers came, we were wowed by the creamy butter (Irish butter we were told) and every so light olive oil (direct from Turkey) that came with the fresh warm bread. The dinner began with an endive salad that was dressed with an oil that was delicately flavoured by myer lemon, grilled bass with verjus enhanced with grapes, and the most divine butter tart with rhubarb compote. We left very happy.
