No, its not on Hock Lam Street – it may well have been in 1921, when this popular noodle place first started serving its signature dish. Over 80 years, it has won many fans, myself included. I love the dark thick sauce that they so generously pour over the noodles, garnished with an even more generous helping of minced salted vegetable and chopped peanuts, and a mix of beef cuts (depending on your preference). I like adding in some of the incredible homemade chilli sauce. And also dunking the beef into the chilli sauce and chinchalok (right), a fermented shrimp sauce that is of a light pink shade. Yums.
