Bed Supperclub, Bangkok

26 Soi Sukhumvit 11 T. 02 651 3537

It’s tagline is "Who will you go to bed with tonight?", but for me and my friends, it was more like "What were you planning on eating in bed?" This is one place where you literally get to eat while being tucked in.

The idea is simple: climb onto one of the two rows of very deep white seats that look more like ultra long beds, stretch out and order from the set menu.

What I had: a mango salad, followed by a roast duck with plum dressing, and a fallen soufflé (that tasted more like a not too sweet cup cake) with basil ice-cream. The fusion touch of Thai ingredients with western style cooking was interesting enough, but the taste was but average. The one thing that made up for it all was the basil ice-cream – it spotted a colour the shade of grass but tasted divine.

In between courses, you can actually opt for a massage - they had scary looking folks walking around wearing white t-shirts with the word "MASSAGE" plastered across their chest; have your fortune told; or just stare at the "bubble girl" - a girl who was dressed to look like an angle, waving a bubble gun in all directions. Bizarre.
